About the Position

SkyTruth is seeking a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead our growing conservation technology program. This role will shape SkyTruth’s technology strategy; manage a multidisciplinary engineering, science, and product team; and drive the development of innovative, user-centered tools and analytics that power climate action, biodiversity protection, and environmental justice.

As a member of SkyTruth’s executive Leadership Team, the CTO will help chart the organization’s future at the leading edge of remote sensing, machine learning, data science, cloud computing, and geospatial technology. Key Responsibilities

Technology Leadership & Strategy

• Define and oversee SkyTruth's conservation technology vision and roadmap.

• Develop and implement innovative data-driven, scalable solutions for environmental monitoring and accountability.

• Cultivate a user-centric, impact-oriented approach to technology development, focused on accelerating the work of environmental changemakers.

• Evaluate emerging technologies and opportunities with pragmatism for genuine user value and conservation outcomes, not just technical novelty.

Team Development & Management

• Recruit, mentor, and manage a diverse, high-performing technical team. The tech team currently consists of 11 staff members, including machine learning engineers, full-stack engineers, geospatial data scientists, a user support engineer, a product manager, and an IT system administrator.

• Foster a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative team culture.

Product & Infrastructure Development

• Oversee the development, deployment, and maintenance of SkyTruth’s digital tools, platforms, analyses, data products, and APIs.

• Ensure robustness of data processing pipelines, geospatial analysis, and inference models.

• Regularly evaluate cloud infrastructure and technical architecture decisions to ensure balanced prioritization among performance, cost, impact, accessibility, and scalability.

External Engagement & Thought Leadership

• Represent SkyTruth at conferences, meetings, and public events.

• Support partnership development with funders, data providers and other technology partners, researchers, NGOs, and government agencies to expand reach and impact.

• Communicate technical concepts effectively to both expert and non-technical audiences.

• Curate a high level vision for how SkyTruth will continue to be a leading force in the area of conservation technology.

Organizational Leadership

• Participate in regular discussions with the CEO, COO, and CIO to determine organizational priorities.

• Contribute to the development of SkyTruth’s multi-year strategic plan.

• Collaborate with other team leaders on the development, implementation, and evaluation of OKRs.

• Participate in funder engagement, proposal development, and communication of progress on deliverables.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time salaried position reporting to the Chief Executive Officer with an expected salary range of $185,000–$200,000 with final compensation depending on skills and experience. About the Position

SkyTruth seeks an experienced Data Visualization & Design Specialist to support the Creative Director in the generation of insights and visual assets that tell compelling conservation stories with SkyTruth’s products, and analyze geospatial data to produce polished maps, graphics and reports using SkyTruth’s datasets and tools. This role combines geospatial data analysis and visualization, graphic design, and journalism.

Making hidden environmental problems visible is the first step to solving them. The ideal candidate will have experience in data analysis and visualization, geospatial mapping, as well as science communication and graphic design. They will be able to produce results quickly, balance competing priorities, and collaborate closely with the Creative Director and SkyTruth’s technical and communications teams to unlock the full value and impact of our products. Above all, they will be motivated to translate data into impact for the conservation community. This role is 100% remote and will report to the Creative Director.

Key Responsibilities

• Data visualization and mapping. Develop polished maps and graphics for reports, web, slide decks, and social media.

• Data analysis and communication. Utilize SkyTruth’s products and analyze datasets to produce graphics and create narratives that promote and inspire global conservation.

• Ensuring brand consistency. Manage some website content production, develop templates, and ensure consistency with brand guidelines.  

• Designing collateral. Create printed and digital promotional materials, collateral, and presentations for conferences and events. 

• Assisting with UI/UX design. Follow creative direction to design new aspects of the user interfaces and experiences for our various tools.

• Opportunity identification and exploration. Brainstorm with the team and identify new opportunities to make unique contributions to the conservation space.

• Continuing education and skill development. Develop and maintain an informed awareness and continued education on important developments in the field.

Key Qualifications

• At least 3 years of graphic design and data visualization experience producing polished visual articles or graphics communicating scientific topics. 

• At least 3 years of experience mapping geospatial data, ideally utilizing satellite remote sensing data to produce maps for publication.

• Experience communicating complex scientific ideas for all audiences.

• Broad knowledge of conservation issues to enable the identification, development, and execution of compelling narratives.

• Ability to take creative direction, communicate directly, and be receptive and open to feedback.

SkyTruth is seeking a Program Manager to advance biodiversity protection using SkyTruth’s technology and data, including the 30x30 Progress Tracker—a platform that monitors global progress toward protecting 30% of the world’s lands and waters by 2030. Reporting to the Chief Impact Officer, this role will serve as the primary bridge between SkyTruth and the biodiversity conservation community, helping civil society organizations, governments, Indigenous Peoples, and local communities leverage SkyTruth tools to advocate for, implement, and monitor area-based conservation commitments.

Key Responsibilities

• Partnerships and Engagement: Conduct stakeholder research at global, regional, and national levels to identify and prioritize new users, partners, and champions of SkyTruth tools; Proactively conduct outreach and cultivate partnerships with NGOs, government agencies,  journalists, Indigenous Peoples, local communities, and data providers, driving adoption and impact of the 30x30 Progress Tracker and other SkyTruth tools.

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a full-time salaried position with an expected salary range of $95,000–$110,000, with final compensation depending on skills and experience. The team is focused on getting settled in NetSuite, undergoing an initial financial statement audit, and supporting international expansion by navigating new contracts & products, as well as alternate financing structures, which are integral to scaling our reforestation and conservation efforts worldwide.

The ideal candidate has a demonstrated interest in climate tech and a combination of both audit and industry experience. Furthermore, this candidate has management experience but also feels comfortable rolling up their sleeves as an individual contributor.

This role is remote within the United States/International. However, you must be within 3 hours of Pacific time given cross-functional communication responsibilities. No regular travel is required or expected.

The mandate of the Platform team at SensorUp is to build and operate an internal developer platform of software delivery in a cloud native environment. In this role, you will have the opportunity to partner closely with their cross-functional Engineering organization to identify, build, and scale services that make their technical infrastructure practical and accessible for their developers. As a product manager at SkyTruth, you will deeply understand the users and impact partners, identify their jobs to be done, create product strategies to support their success, and work closely with the Technology and Impact teams to build solutions, define positioning, and drive adoption. This is a great role for a focused, user-oriented product manager who is energized by building creative solutions that catalyze climate and conservation action.

This role is 100% remote (US-based only) and will report to the CTO. Occasional travel (<10%) may be necessary to participate in conferences, presentations, meetings, and twice-annual in-person team retreats.
